The Ph.D. Program in Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” aims to train highly qualified researchers capable of making original contributions to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of chemistry, biology, and biotechnology as applied to the life sciences.
The program’s research activities focus on the study of the structure, properties, and functions of biomolecules and the chemical and biological processes that regulate living systems, using state-of-the-art experimental and computational methodologies. The interdisciplinary approach of the PhD program fosters the integration of expertise from chemistry, biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, genetics, biotechnology, and precision medicine, enabling the tackling of complex scientific problems with innovative methodologies.
Research projects range from the characterization of biomolecules and natural products to the study of the molecular basis of human diseases, from the development of new drugs, biomaterials, and advanced controlled-release systems for active ingredients to applications in tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and health biotechnology. In this context, doctoral students are encouraged to develop original research with a high degree of innovation, contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge and the transfer of its applications to the healthcare and manufacturing sectors.
